J.D. Vigil, like many people that get into in the HVAC business, was enslaved by his parents into the family contracting business at a very young age doing installations and service, and eventually worked his way into the estimating and management.
In 1992, at the ripe old age of 26, J.D. launched his own HVAC Company in a non-competing neighboring city, addressing all facets of the business - commercial, new construction, fireplaces, water heaters, gas work and add-on and replacements, including ductwork.
J.D.’s first years in business were good, but the challenges grew as the business grew. Knowing little about financials, advertising or sales, he went on a self and business improvement campaign spending literally thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours educating him by attending seminars, hiring consultants and joining better practice groups. That education transformed J.D. and his business dramatically.
J.D. doubled his sales closing rate and that of his sales team, increased company gross profit margin by 50% and doubled the average sales ticket, all while narrowing the focus of the business exclusively to residential service and replacement and going from the cheap company in town to the highest price, best service contractor and company to work for in the area.
As you can see, J.D. has lived the life and walked the walk. His first love after family is marketing and sales, and there is nothing else he would rather do for living than to share his passion and expertise. J.D. says “I have mastered my arena and want jump into other arenas and share my knowledge with people and companies committed to improving their top and bottom lines, and help them capitalize on opportunities, avoid the pitfalls and overcome the inevitable challenges while enhancing their quality of life and those of their co-workers and customers.”
J.D.’s business philosophy is simple: “If you think consultants and training are too costly to gain the knowledge you and your co-workers require running your business successfully and profitably, what are untrained co-workers costing you?"
