Who’s To Blame? As I told a group of 600+ HVAC people in Cincinnati, OH the other day: Any economic, marketplace, political landscape or environmental conditions make business challenging. As they say in Florida or California, “if you don’t like the weather, give it a few minutes, it will change.” The same holds true with business, however, I wouldn’t recommend waiting around and feeling powerless and hopeless to affect change like with the weather. The liberal media would have you believe what they can get you to believe. A glass that is half empty is still half full, but the media would rather focus who is responsible for the glass being half empty and more than likely blame George Bush or call it an conspiracy. There is no ‘R’ word unless you choose to participate in one. You can and should flourish. Why is that some people pull back and get conservative, while others reach out and grow in perceived turbulent times? If others are pulling back, then that means there is opportunity and ground to be gained. Seize the hill and take the mountain while you can. You will still own it when everyone wakes up and decides to get back in the game. Don’t play the game, change the game and win! 5% unemployment is not a bad thing. It’s probably too low and should be closer to 10%, since at least 10% of the people are unemployable and/or don’t want to work at a productive level. No matter your political affiliation, ONLY YOU can drive success or fix the mess in your business and you have to adapt to the changing currents of business, the market, the economy, and the weather. To do so, get help. Read Ron Smith’s book HVAC Spells Wealth and John R. Hall’s newest book Profit Tips 1.1.1. As I always say: “You can explain, complain, and blame, which is lame and ultimately results in shame.” Get out there and make it happen. Be a catalyst for change and action.
